Imagine walking across a bridge suspended over the rainforest canopy, paddling through creeks in search of monkeys

The Lodge is so perfectly blended into the wildlife environment that it is already just another part of the forest. Watch the giant otters dive and call each other while you have breakfast and when you return to your room, watch the alligators glide under the platforms. Hear the monkeys chatting outside your balcony; and even the giant sloths that hang in the trees by the cabins.

THE ROOMS

Accommodation in Sacha combines the highest comfort for the traveler with the preservation of the environment and the habitat of the rainforest. All of our cabins, with high thatched roofs and private shaded terraces with hammocks, are built with traditional materials, which are subtly immersed in the lush surroundings. Each of the 26 cabins, which include Singles, Doubles, three family cabins and (upon request) triple accommodations, offer a spacious private bathroom with a hot shower. Some of which even feature floor to ceiling windows for an immersive jungle shower experience! All cabins are protected against insects and contain ceiling fans above the comfortable beds.

THE BALSA

"La Balsa" as it is known, is at the heart of the Sacha Lodge experience. An outdoor lounge area, surrounded by a breathtaking view of the sparkling Pilchicocha lagoon. It is the perfect place to read a book with a glass of wine, or to observe birds, alligators and giant otters, as well as crimson sunsets and tremendous thunderstorms.

THE RESTAURANT

The rustic and airy restaurant offers a relaxed setting for dinner. With windows open at night, allow the song of the cicadas to circulate. A la carte dinners are served in the restaurant. Using fresh, local and sustainable products; our chef prepares meals to delight the palates of travelers from all over the world and thus satisfy the appetite of the most adventurous!

THE BAR

The safari-style bar is located above the restaurant and is comfortably furnished with sofas and stools that support the bamboo bar. Relax with an ice cold beer, wine or classic cocktails made by our bartender.

SACHA FLAVORSSACHA FLAVORS

Buffet breakfasts and lunches that mix international cuisine with traditional Ecuadorian dishes are served at the Raft. There are light and healthy options, as well as substantial pasta and meat dishes. Dinner, which is a la carte, is served in the restaurant. Menus change daily and will often include the popular paiche. A unique white fish from the Amazon region, the same one that bears the important green seal of responsible fishing. Vegetarians are more than welcome, and our chefs will be happy to accommodate any special needs that may arise. At least one night during your stay we will have a barbecue on the shore of the lagoon, in La Balsa, with grilled fish, meat and vegetables.

CANOPY ON THE SUSPENSION BRIDGE

Imagine crossing the jungle via a 36-meter (94-foot) high bridge over the treetops. It is 275 meters (940 feet) long and is fixed to the ground by three metal towers. It offers an amazing opportunity to discover dozens of animals and epiphytes rarely seen from the ground. You can even make out the monkey troops that are found through the forest canopy. And if you don't see it, you will almost certainly hear them. Howler monkeys will be found roaring through the sunset like true kings of the jungle.

CEIBO TOWER

You'll feel like you're on top of the world on our 135-foot (43-meter) tall observation tower. A platform built on the highest branches of a giant Ceibo tree. From here, there is a magnificent panoramic view of the forest. While the more than 500 species of birds recorded in the area, including toucans and rainbow parrots, become easy to spot. Climb to the crows' nest for the 360-degree experience, the captain of the Amazon.

PARROT LICK

A short distance from Sacha Lodge is the most accessible parrot lick in Ecuador. An exposed clay wall on the banks of the Napo River is the place where technicolor parrots of various species gather in the early hours of the morning. In ideal conditions (sunny and dry) hundreds of parrots perch on the wall and eat the exposed clay. It is a fascinating spectacle of sound and color! The lick is located on the edge of the Yasuní National Park, which is accessible from Sacha by a short canoe trip down the Napo River.

THE BUTTERFLY HOUSE

Sacha Lodge is home to one of the largest butterfly farms in Ecuador. Designed as a conservatory for a live exhibition; The Butterfly House is now successfully the breeding ground for nearly 40 species of local butterflies. Our guests will be shown how these beautiful insects are fed and raised, plus they can wander through the "flight room" where hundreds of colorful butterflies flit from flower to flower. Spectacular butterflies like the transparent glass wing, blue shapes , tiger wings, bright yellow swallow tails and giant owl moths are just a few of the species you'll find here, up close and personal.

WALKS IN THE WOODS

Walk along the jungle trails between the hot spots of the sun that filter through the canopy. Care must be taken not to step on an army of marching ants. Your naturalist guide will teach you about plants and insects, as well as the fascinating symbiosis between them. Additionally, it could lead you through the territory of the Crested Owl or Howler Monkeys, expertly mimicking the creatures' call to gain their trust and persuade them to hide. When darkness comes, have your flashlight ready to spot the creatures of the night; tarantulas and boas that eat insects and frogs.

PADDLING IN THE JUNGLE STREAMS

In addition to being your means of transportation between expeditions, paddling the creeks in native canoes is a fabulous adventure. With the advantage that it requires little physical effort, rowing in the channels that start from the lagoon is like entering a tunnel that leads to a lost world. Call the birds, listen to their surround sound while watching the huge families of monkeys that jump on the branches above the canoe. A show to coincide with the sunset.

ALLIGATOR WATCHING AT NIGHT

A nocturnal expedition to search for alligators in the lagoon is perhaps the most magical experience for those seeking an adventure full of wonder. Under the cover of darkness, you will take a canoe towards the lagoon and its surroundings, the path will be illuminated by the moon and bright stars. You will discover the eyes of alligators that glow brightly in the light of the lanterns and as well as the amphibian creatures, you will see them float along the swamps.

BIRD WATCHING

Observing exotic and colorful birds here is child's play. Of the incredible 1,600 species of birds recorded in Ecuador, 587 (37 percent) have been seen at Sacha Lodge. That is almost 7 percent of the species found worldwide! For expert bird watchers, we can provide specialized guides who know the best places where the different species of birds that are difficult to locate are found. Plus you can easily identify species by sight and sound. Oscar Tapuy, our local expert, who has worked in Sacha since 1995, estimates that on average he sees 60 species of birds per day. Your guide will lead you through a variety of habitats where flock watching is common. This activity usually begins before sunrise to make the most of the morning rush. Our guides carry telescopes and have become experts at taking photos with their camera or phone through the lens!

VISIT THE PROVIDENCIA DE YASUNI COMMUNITY

Our visit takes us to the Shipati Warmi project, an initiative that is directed by the Providencia de Yasuní community and benefits it. Through discreet dialogue, learn about their day-to-day life; how clothes are dried in the jungle and the challenges of going to school, as well as preparing and tasting traditional food. It is a unique experience, in which we discover so much about the differences and similarities between our own culture and another. The donation for the Shipati Warmi project is $ 10 for each visitor.

THE LAGOON POOL

Ideal for families, the lagoon pool is the only one of its kind in the Amazon region. The plunge pool which is protected by a cage and a mesh, allows you to cool off and relax in the shallow waters of the Pilchicocha lagoon without the fear of encountering the unknown. Personal

Our friendly staff forms the backbone of the Sacha Lodge experience and is always available to attend to any special needs our visitors may have. On average, there are three service staff members for every two guests at the Lodge.

Arrival

After making your reservation, Sacha Lodge will book your flight. From the moment you arrive at the Quito airport you will be in the safe hands of one of our bilingual team members who will guide you all the way to arrival at the Lodge.

Communications

In case of emergency, both cell phone and radio communications are available at the Lodge. In addition, each of our guides maintains permanent contact with the Lodge during all excursions and activities.

Bar

Enjoy a beer or cocktail. We also have a well-crafted wine list that includes wines from Chile, Argentina, and Ecuador.

Wi-Fi

Internet connections are available in the open areas of the lodge, at an additional daily rate.

Boots and Ponchos

Rubber boots and rain ponchos are available to all our guests at the Lodge. Boots are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between uses.

Water

Drinking, purified and safe water is available at various points around the Lodge. There is no need to bring your own bottled water.

Electricity

Throughout the Lodge, 24-hour electricity is provided by generators that are located far away and are almost inaudible.

Laundry

Sacha Lodge offers laundry service (washing and drying) for our guests. Please check with the administrator at the Lodge.
